This Outer Glow in Photoshop Tutorial will simply explain how to use the glow options in Photoshop.
Sometimes I want to add a pretty, soft glow to my text, brush, shape or anything else I’m making, it took me some time to tweak the settings so that it looks pretty rather than overpowering; it’s a great effect but can often not get used or if it does it can look horrible.
The glowing options in photoshop are very simple, but can look wonderful on dark backgrounds when tweaked.

Scribbled Text in Photoshop Tutorial - The Steps
- First of all, if you want to create the same text like I have in this image, please read this tutorial.
- So, create a canvas -> File -> New - make sure it’s white and around 300 x 150px and then select your text tool (press T), then click on your canvas, write something and follow the next step.
- Now go -> Layer -> Layer Style -> Outer Glow - change your settings so that they match my own: look at them here!
- Once you’ve matched your settings to mine you can then play with them so they suit your text more - change the colour and so forth. Also, if you want to add the glowing effect on a dark background, then change the drop down menu from "Normal" to "Overlay" - play around and you’ll be amazed what you can do.
- You’re pretty much done! If you have any questions regarding this Outer Glow in PhotoshopTutorial then just drop me a line in the below comment box. I’ll happily reply.
