Imageready Text Effect - Inner Bevel Tutorial

This Imageready Text Effect Tutorial will explain how to create a lovely inner bevel effect to your text - as well as add borders and make it look more interesting.
This effect can be extremely useful when you want text to be pretty, stand out more or look like graphic design text - inner bevel is one of the most useful effects you can apply to text. But getting it to look just right, with the correct settings isn’t always a breeze.

Imageready Text Effect Tutorial - The Steps
- PLEASE NOTE: This tutorial is for Adobe Imageready - however I’m sure you can translate it into Adobe Photoshop.
- In the above image the font I have used is Cheeseburger - you can either download it by clicking on ‘Cheeseburger’ or use your own font - but I do suggest a rather ‘fat’ font so you can have the full effect of inner bevel etc.
- Assuming you’ve opened Imageready then first you need to go -> File -> New - once the little box has popped up change your settings to mine. Look here!
- You should now have a new image - assuming you do… go and find your font tool - then select your fat font or newly downloaded Cheeseburger font. Add some text. I suggest adding what I said, simply because it’s easier with this tutorial. So type in “Can you… show me love?”. The pink colour I used is FF3080 &’ the purple I used is A230FF - Just highlight the bit of text you want to be pink and the same for purple.
- Once you’ve got the text you want continue onto the next step.
- As you can see in the above image the “Can you…” is slanted. To do that do the following: CTRL/Command + J (this duplicates your text layer) - then press ‘V’ and you’ll be using the ‘Move Tool’, click and drag the font downwards - you’ll see you have two of the same layers. Then press ‘T’ and click on one of the layers - doesn’t matter which - delete all of the ‘Show me love?’. And then go to your other layer and delete ‘Can you…’. Then follow the next step.
- You now need to change your inner bevel settings so they’re exactly like mine. Look at mine! - Things to check: Make sure the colour of your SHADOW MODE is NOT black - change it to white. And make sure the DEPTH is not set to 100 but set to 300!
Once you’ve done that and it’s all done then click the other text layer and do exactly as I just told you.
- Now for the more exciting bit… click on one of the text layers and then go Layer -> Layer Style -> Bevel and Emboss - select ‘Bevel and Emboss’. Once you’ve clicked that a box will appear.
- You now need to change your inner bevel settings so they’re exactly like mine. Look at mine! - Things to check: Make sure the colour of your SHADOW MODE is NOT black - change it to white. And make sure the DEPTH is not set to 100 but set to 300!
Once you’ve done that and it’s all done then click the other text layer and do exactly as I just told you.
- You now have your slanted text, inner beveled effect… lastly you need your border!
- Now go -> Layer -> Layer Style -> Stroke - a box will appear… change the stroke from 1 to 3. Once you’ve done that you’ll see a little drop down menu - it automatically has inside on it - change that to outside - and then change the colour black to white. Once that’s done press OK!Now go and select your other text layer - the one without the white border - and do exactly as I said above.
- Lastly it’s time to add the last border. A glitter type border. Please download this glitter block - save it somewhere easy to find.Please go to your layers pallet and select the top layer - then go -> Layer -> Merge Visible
- Now select one of your text layers and go -> Layer -> Layer Style -> Stroke change the stroke from 1 to 3 - change the drop down menu from ‘inside’ to ‘outside’. Then you’ll see another drop down menu ‘Color’, change that to ‘Pattern’, once you’ve selected that you’ll see another drop down menu - it has a little pattern on it/beside it - select the drop down and at the very top there will be an option for ‘Other’, click that, then another box will pop up and you should now locate the file I asked you to download. Then press OK and once again OK to get rid of the first pop up box.

This Create Glitter Text in Photoshop & Animation Shop Tutorial will explain how to create glitter text and how to animate your text.
This text effect can be really fun - it makes your boring, simple text look far more interesting and once you know how to do this you’ll end up tweaking it, using different colours, fonts, glitter fills, this should also help to improve your knowledge of Photoshop as well as the wonderful Imageready.

Create Glitter Text in Photoshop & Animation Shop Tutorial - The Steps
- Open a new document, mine is 400×400.And fill it with any color, I will use this #FF00EA
- Now write anything you want to and add a black stroke to the text. Take a look.
- Now merge all the layers and crop the image a little.
- Duplicate the layer and press W in your keyboard and select the pink background.
You will get something like this. Take a look.
- Now delete all the pink parts, but only in the first layer. Don’t change a thing on the second layer.
- Now add a new stroke to this image. I will add a white one and also I will add some glass effect. Take a look.
- Now we going to repeat all this again. Merge all and duplicate your layer and add a new stroke but
this one we going to use a silver glitter fill. Take a look.
- Now click again the W and go to Selection >> Invert or click Shift+ctrl+I. Take a look.
- Now go add a new layer and fill that selected part with the glitter fill you going to use. Take a look.
- Copy all and paste it in Animation Shop 3
- Now in the photoshop glitter text go back till that new layer is added and added the next glitter fill.
- Paste it in Animation Shop again and you will get something like this.
- Now go in the Animation Shop to Animation >> Replace color and click on the pink background click ok and do that till the background is out.
- Now save it as gif and you have your own cool glitter! Take a look.
